Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Banking


James “Jim” A. Sandgren is Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Banking at Old National. Prior to the completion of Old National’s 2022 merger of equals with First Midwest Bank, he was Old National’s President and Chief Operating Officer.

Jim has held several executive leadership positions during his 30+ years at Old National, including Southern Region CEO. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from DePauw University and is an honors graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He also holds Credit Risk Certification from the Risk Management Association.

Jim is a member of the YMCA of the USA’s National Board of Directors, as well as a board member and past president of the YMCA of Southwest Indiana. He also serves as a board member BridgeLink, which is dedicated to completing the I-69 Ohio River Crossing; the Evansville Regional Sports Commission; the University of Southern Indiana Foundation; and the Indiana High School Athletic Association Foundation (current treasurer). Additionally, Jim previously served as a board member and past board chair for Ascension/St. Vincent-Evansville, as a board member and past president of the Southwest Indiana Chamber, and as a board member and past board president and chairman of the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center, where he led two capital campaigns. Jim also previously served as Community Campaign Chair and Tocqueville Society Campaign Chair for the United Way of Southwestern Indiana.
