1. What is your current hiring and recruitment strategy?

Your current hiring and recruiting techniques could be as simple as word-of-mouth or as complicated as an extensive application and multi-interview process. Neither one is wrong, but there are different needs for different businesses. Determining what approach will get you the best people for your open position is worth taking the time to consider. 

2. How do you source job candidates?

An important part of hiring and recruiting is to target the right talent. The more you know about the ideal candidates, the easier it will be to recruit them. Think about the ways that you are attracting talent and if they are successful. If they are not, it may be worth taking more time to define the right candidates for your open positions. 

3. Are you spending money on hiring and recruiting?

Posting job openings can get expensive really fast. If you’ve invested in hiring and recruiting technology or posted job listings on websites, make sure you are strategic in getting the right candidates and the results you desire. If not, then it is time to explore what is and is not working. 

4. Have you considered social media to promote your job openings?

Social media can also be a great, cost-effective way to net talent for your business. As long as you are intentional and authentic with your posts, you should be successful in recruiting talent. Many businesses use social media to alert their networks or communities of job openings. A GlassDoor study found that 79% of job seekers use social media in their job hunts.

5. Could a recruiting firm help you find the right candidates?

Another great way to bring in talent is to consider hiring a recruiter. THey can be helpful in reducing the stress in filling open positions by identifying candidates who suit your needs. If you decide to hire a recruiter, make sure they are a good fit for you, understand your industry, and have a proven record of success.

Whether you have managed one direct report or a large team, you know that there are no 100% guarantees in hiring new talent. However, these are some key steps you can take to improve your chances of bringing on the best candidates.
